Korean Mo Tae-bum (모태범) today won gold for his historical victory in the men's 500 meters speedskating at the Vancouver Winter Olympics. Mo is the first Korean to win gold for Korea for events other than short track speed skating.

Mo Tae-bum born in 1989, he's just 21 years old and is 172cms tall and weighs 72kms.

Just a day ago, another Korean, LEE Jung-Su (이정수) won gold in the men's 1500 meters beating American Apolo Anton Ohno and JR Celski. Lee is also 21 years of age.

Oh my god, G-dragon is turning into a Diva! I am not sure if I am the only one who's not followed so much of the Skins (British TV series) phenomena since it's launch in 2007. Anyhow I have now been doing some catching up these days. I pretty much watched all the episodes from the last three series. I found them all quite interesting and exciting to watch and ofcourse it makes a whole lot of difference when you have gay characters in it. Maxxie Oliver played by actor Mitch Hewer is an openly gay boy in the drama series. The following two videos are episodes from season 2 where he is prominently featured.

Two short films, Tanjong Rhu by Boo Junfeng and Loo Zihan’s Threshold - which was to have its world premiere tomorrow - have been withdrawn by organisers just days before they are to be shown at a Singapore short film festival which begins tomorrow.

Two short films, both of which are partially funded by Fridae and loosely based on true life incidents of police entrapment of a gay man in one film and 12 gay men in another, have been pulled from the 6th annual Singapore Short Cuts festival which begins tomorrow.

Well, as I was complaining earlier about the boredom, I decided to finally change the order of things around here a bit. In lieu of a little adventure, I decided to go to Steamworks here in Berekeley on Thursday, although it meant that I'd have to walk for 30 minutes on foot to get there. For those of you who are not familiar with Steamworks, let me give you a little idea - it's just very similar to all the bathhouses in Korea I kept talking about over the years. It seems a bit more organized here though compared to the ones in Korea. I am not sure if this being organized is better or not. It costs 15+5 dollars for a locker and a one time membership and ones you are inside, it's a dark maze with all sorts of naked men in every corner. It was a bit hard for me at first to work this almost intimidating maze like structure but a hungry gay man can always find his ghosts as we all know.

Anyways, although the place had plenty of older and bear type clientelle, the number of young guys hovering inside was not dissapointing at all. I went there neither expecting much nor anything in particular. Quite a number of guys brushed up against and approached me as I walked the allies up and down. Some would say, "nice ass man", others went, "love your hair", and one man even said, "you are the prettiest I have seen here in a long time". Pretty? Mmm, I am not sure. Well, you see, if anyone needs any reassurance, this seems like the place to go. Getting comments upfront like that would never happen in a bathhouse in Korea, but here, comments were plenty. Quite an experience really.

Like a hungry lioness I went about looking for my type of guy in the dark. I saw a few asians, not particularly cute but would have done the job for me but I got soon distracted when I spotted a beautiful young black boy. He wasn't that dark - sort of light brownish. Anyways I saw him looking at me and I smiled. Then he approached me and asked me what I was looking for and I said, I don't know. A few more impish smiling and we headed to the backroom and did our job there. I thought it was great - a 25 year old black man with chiselled body getting down and dirty with me. He was thrilled too, probably it must be his first time with an Asian boy. After the fuck, we sat in the dark and talked for some more minutes before I decided to live. I sort of sensed he wanted to get my number and stuff but I avoided the subject since I am only a visitor here.

Now you know, if a cute black boy comes my way next time, I am all arms for him.

I have been feeling kind of bad lately about not posting much stuff here. It's just that nothing really exciting is happening these days and I am sure you guys don't want to hear me complain about the hell of a boredom that I am living in right now. Anyways I wanted to tell you about what happened yesterday.

I was on my way back to Berkeley from Concord on the BART. When I got on the train at Concord there was only one guy in the whole compartment. He was reading a book in the corner and I didn't pay much attention to him. I changed line at MacArthur and got on another train but as the train started to move, I saw the same guy again in another corner. This time he was not reading and I caught his eye. He was a pretty cute and tall dude with shaved head. As I looked at him, he shyly looked away.

Then the thought occured to me that he might think I was following him. And on second thought there could be a chance that he was following me... Well, the train moved on for another three stations and we arrived at Berkeley. The guy was not going to get off the train, so I decided to hold on for awhile and took the ride all the way to El Cerito. We occassionally exchanged glances and I was convinced more and more that both of us were upto something.

Well, we arrived at the station, he got off first and I followed. When we got off the escalator he gave me a quick glance and he turned to the left and dissapeared. I wondered where he was going, so I went around the corner as quickly as I can. I found out he went to the toilet and he's left the tiolet door half open. Ofcourse I was overjoyed that something was really going on there - some action after a long time but I was not ready for a toilet encounter just yet. So I quitely left...

Oh I almost forgot the highlight of today's post - A short film titled "Lucky Blue" from Sweden. A very simple story very subtly told. It has a very special feel to it and makes me almost feel the summer that is portrayed in the film. Enjoy!

Well, these days I am here in San Francisco, USA, travelling and getting some work done too. I have been here for several weeks already but have found it kind of hard to explore the scene here. You guys must have seen the Sean Penn film, MILK. Well, this is the place where it all happened - the ground zero of the movement. Anyways what I was saying is that I feel like I am looking at everything here through a looking glass - unable to grasp or experience what San Francisco represents to us. At first I was excited about being here and made all these plans to go to this place and that but after two weeks of not really being able to find anything, I am kind of feeling bored here. New York was more fun though. I guess I should go to New York soon.

I only came to know after I got to the United States that how big the Twilight film is among teens here. It was a bit of a surprise for me cause I happened to see it in Asia a couple of months ago and it was such a dissapointment. Not that I had any great expectations of it in the first place. Now there's all this buzz about the sequel - New Moon. I was wondering why people should watch that film, or rather why I should watch that film... The only reason why I'd go to see this film is to see hottie Taylor Lautner. He is a real stunner I think.

It's late in the night and I am about to go to bed. After a long time I felt like writing about my personal life again. I have not been upto it for all these time because I have been so preoccupied with work and so far away from Korea that I hardly had anything exciting happening. The good news now is that I have found someone here who's bringing a bit of smile in my life. He's a couple of years older than me and lives in a town a night's ride away from where I am right now. For the past few days we have been on the phone almost every night and spoke with each other for hours and hours. Usually I am not the kind who can go on for long on the phone... but this time I seem to be doing it although it takes a bit of effort. I am not keeping any high hopes about where this is going to take me but it's always good to stay positive and be open to all kinds of possibilities, you know. I will go visit him in a couple of weeks.

Happy New Year to you all. As you know I have been away holidaying finally. I am here in Varkala, a beach town in Kerala, South India. It's really beautiful here with the sea, the sun and the cool breaze. The weather is almost what you call a perfect summer weather.

Yes I know, you'd be curious to know about the boy scene here. It seems like many gay men are around, mostly white couples from Europe or the US. Since it's a small town hassle free holiday destination, I guess it's tempting for couples who want to just have a romantic time away from the usual busy places.

Not a lot of single man around and also not much asian crowd. It's mostly Europeans and Americans.

Kerala is famous for it's Ayurvedic herbal oil massages. I had my experience many years ago when I came here last time. I had a go too this time and it was quite an experience. Two men rubbing oil all over your body is an experience that you don't wanna miss but of course if the boys were cute asians, i would enjoy it so much more.

My days here are almost over now. Tomorrow I will go to Cochin and then back to the city and back to work :-(

After almost a week of swimming, sun bathing and sea food, I feel much healthier and refreshed - atleast for now. A great way to welcome the new year...

P.S. The tides were very high today and from the beach I saw a family of six dolphins. I took some pictures but they aren't that clear.

This week has to end and I will be on my way to the sea in South India. I will be leaving for a brief holiday next week with a bunch of friends and be in the southern most state of India called Kerala - god's own country. I am looking forward to the warm weather and be able to swim in the sea. I will be thinking about all of you as I set foot at the southern tip of the country looking out into the vast ocean.

Anyways I want to take this time to thank you all for being such lovely company to me over the years. I have shared much with you and in return i've received love and friendship. I want to wish you all a Merry Christmas and a Happy New Year. May the year 2009 bring you more love, more freedom and more peace of mind.

Sorry guys for being away for so long but the deal is that I am far away in India now working my ass off on a project and being far away from all the beautiful boys in Korea, I have become kind of reclusive and a workaholic. The little fun I have here are far less interesting and hardly comparable to the fun that I used to have but anyways I do try to keep in good shape.

Thanks for those of you who have not forgotten me and to those who took the time to write to me and tell me how much you miss me or rather my stories. Yes I will be posting from time to time but I really don't know how much of a juice there will be in the stories. Being in India it's hard to get hold of a decent asian guy and I am not into Indian guys at all, so it's put me in a pretty tricky situation.

An interesting discussion is going on over at JguyUsguy - the question of who we are. Asians being born and brought up in communities other than theirs, the basic but the complex question of identity. Are we who we are just because of where we are born and the language that we speak or is there more deep rooted cultural values that makes us who we are? Specific to the Korean context, I think the film "Our School" is a very good material for our own study of identity. The filmmaker spends three years in a Korean school in Japan, a school that tries and preserve Korean culture and tradition in a foreign land the best they can. Although the issue of Koreans from both North and South who have been based for generations in Japan is a complex one, the film lightly touches the subject from the point of view of the Korean cultural identity only. 3rd and 4th generation Korean kids are sent to these specialized schools and brought up as proud Koreans who are at the same time given the responsibility of ensuring the preservation of their beloved nation's cultural future. It is both a en enjoyable and touching documentary that brings about many more questions in our own minds. I hope you guys get to see this film somehow. You can purchase it online here.

His Holiness the Dalai Lama says Tibetans should engage with the Chinese through compassion and dialogue. He says mindfulness and clarity are the keys to good living. He says truth prevail and when you have the truth in your hands there is no need for force and violence. This extraordinary person, who says he is a simple Buddhist monk is willing to give up his birth right of a free nation, to be able to save the nation of Tibet from dissapearing form the face of the earth.

His Holiness has always told the Tibetans that they should treat the Chinese or anybody else in the world as their brothers and sisters. In Tibetan buddhism there is a concept where every living being on the face of the earth, even a dog has, at some point in this circle of life, have been your mother. So in this way, in the Tibetan culture there is a natural way of respecting the others regardless of race or culture etc.

So he says, the people in China are not bad, it's just the system, the government. But come on, look at what has been happening around the world in the recent times. Chinese students in free countries like Korea have attempted and tried to run down on voiceless Tibetan people and more annoyingly the Chinese students in Seoul have tried to stop the free thinking Koreans to express their opinions in their own home country. The Chinese made the Koreans in Seoul mildly experience what the Tibetans have been going through for 50 years. Isn't that an outrage?

Compassion to the Chinese students, the ones who do not know what they are doing... For those, for the sake of a free lunch or a raise in their scholarships from the Chinese embassy, have given up their own freedom to think and decided to do what the regime dictated them to do.

Dear all,

just a short note to let you know that I am currently away on the road in India. I have been trying hard to get access to the internet but it's so darn hard. I am carrying my notebook with me but there's no LAN connection where I am currently staying. I went to five internet cafes in the last one week since I got here but there's a new regulation here where one has to show a local address prove on an id to be able to use the internet cafe. It's so fucking ridiculous.

Anyways I don't have anything exciting going on here right now. Due to all the dust, I am running a bad cold and I am missing my boys in Seoul. I will be back around the 20th, so until then, if you guys don't here from me, take good care.

Oh and I wish you all a HAPPY NEW YEAR.

Peter Pan Formula and Paranoid Park

This post is long overdue. So I'm just gonna quickly sketch out the following notes.

I have watched two interesting movies in the past month that I wanted to share with you. Both the movies deal with teen coming of age story. One set in the US and one in South Korea.

The first movie is "Paranoid Park" is directed by Gus Van Sant, one of the world's most interesting directors of the time. This is a skator boy story, based on a novel, set in Portland Oregon, and it deals with the teenager's accidental murder of a security guard. The story is not that amazing per se but the way the story is told is very fresh, experimental and highly evolved.

The second movie is a 2005 film "Peter Pan Formula" directed by Jo Chang-ho, a filmmaker who formally used to work under Kim Ki Duk. The film stars the handsome, On Ju-Wan as a highschool swimmer who confronts his life when his mother ends up in a state of comma after a failed suicide attempt.

Gidam a.k.a Epitaph (2007)

Epitaph a.k.a Gigam, inspite being a little boring, is a very fresh Korean movie released ealier this year. The whole movie consists of a series of strange incidences relating to death and the ablity to finding peace after death. The story itself, consists of three different tales that are tied together in some strange ways.

The movie starts with an old doctor, Jung-nam Park rediscovering his photo album from years ago when he was a medical student at a hospital in Japanese occupied Seoul. The pictures take him back in time to the year 1942 when after his parents' death, a director of a hospital takes him in as an intern. The director then secretly marries her dead daughter's soul to the new intern....

Well, the following pictures are of Jin-Gu who plays the young intern in the movie. Warning: If you are one of those people who only enjoy block busters, then this movie might turn out to be rather too boring for you.

Let us NOT SMOKE anymore

Over the past days I have been thinking alot about quitting smoking. It's not easy as they always say and so far I have not yet managed to do it. Everyday I keep telling myself that "this is going to be my last pack" and the next day, I pass by the convenience store and get myself a fresh pack. I don't remember clearly how I first got hooked on to smoking but it's now become a heavy burden and an ugly part of my life. In the next week, I will try to quit or atleast cut down on poisoning myself with cigarettes. I want to find out what it feels like to be free from smoking. Non smokers often tell you that when a smoker kisses them, the smokers' mouth smells like ashtray. How terrible it must feel. If there are any smokers out there, let's try quit together. All it takes is for us to make up our minds. When the will there is, nothing can stop us. Let's try and see if we can quit and regain our freedom back.

The danger with love

I was just browsing through fellow blogger Closet Conundrums blog and his December 1 post reminded me to think about this whole issue with HIV/AIDS. December 1 is officially over and the official World AIDS day has just passed. I instantly began to think about my own actions in terms of sexual habits. How much prone am I to Aids, I began to think. The answer has never been easier, I am totally aware that I belong to the high risk bracket of people prone to contracting this deadly disease.

But despite knowing this how many times have I had unprotected sex? And the worst thing is that, even afterwards I rarely regret. When you are in the heat of it, there is very little control. It’s almost like smoking, you know it’s bad for your health but once you are hooked on, only a few manage to get off of it.

Yes it does mean that I have been careless and stupid but it does not mean that I do not think about the dangers of it. I am totally aware as I said before and my attempts to keep away from unprotected sex will continue. I had a conversation with a friend about this sometime ago and he’d told me that he fears less for me since I am in Korea. If I was anywhere else in the world, the risks would be much higher. I think, his reasoning was that Korea is a very closed society and there is not much contact with the rest of the world. I am not sure how accurate this is but gave me a reason to be a little less afraid.

Barebacking is a fun thing to do but it is very dangerous and it’s always better to stay away from it. I just wonder, if there ever be a time in the future where one can enjoy barebacking without fearing for HIV/AIDS? Anyways for the time being let us all remind ourselves of the risks involved before we do anything stupid.

By the way I got tested a month ago and I have been lucky so far.

Park Jin-Young makes a come back

Park Jin-Young, the singer and dancer is back after a gap of about six years. For the past half a decade as a producer, he's brought us singers like Rain, G.O.D. and Wonder Girls. As they say, behind every successful man, there's a woman but behind Rain's success lies this gaudy looking talented man called Park Jin Young. He's decided to put on his dancing shoes again and has so far managed to stun the nation, though with a bit of a too tacky music video for a song called Kiss. I like his confidence. Go man, go...

While we have been away the 2007 Mnet Korea Music Festival has just passed. It's the biggest Korean music event where musicians are awarded and honored. Turns out our favourite young band FT Island backed the Best New Band award. See the pictures below. I am not so impressed with the furry things with their dresses and the gloves though. Looking through the pictures of the event, it did seem a bit like a weird fancy dress party rather than an award ceremony.

Then the real surprise, actually not so much, was actor Jang Geun Suk who performed a number in drag at the event. As I come to think about it, lots of Korean stars happen to perform in drag at some point in their lives. There is this strange unspoken fancy with drags here in Korea which I haven't quite understood yet. May be it must have something to do with history like many other things here. May be I should do some research on this.

Korean film gives insight into life of a soldier

Compulsory army service would be terribly hard to apply in America today. In Korea, however, with the constant threat of North Korea across the border - it's a way of life. Every male in South Korea must spend 24-28 months serving in the army sometime between the ages of 20 and 30.

Director Jong-Bin Yoon depicts this way of life and the effects of the compulsory military service in his film "The Unforgiven."

The film revolves around Lee Seung-yeong (Seo Jang-weon), a Korean citizen who joins the army for 26 months of mandatory service after spending time in college. He constantly questions the behavior of both his superiors and other soldiers and is seen as more rebellious than the other soldiers.

Boys from FT Island and their complex

In a recent TV interview one of the boys from FT Island, Lee Hong-gi (picture 02), when asked, confessed that he has a personal complex and that's the size of his bottom. He thinks it's too big. He actually has a bubble-butt which makes him all the more hotter - in my eyes. Unfortunately I haven't found a good butt shot of him for this post... anyways enjoy the pics.

Hi everyone, I have been not so efficient in posting anything on the blog lately. I have just been busy with school work and socializing. I apologize for my absence but I am sure you guys can understand. I have skipped several posts about my nightly adventures but I am hoping that at some point I can come back and write about them.

Nothing of great excitement is happening these days. Just making our way into the impending cold of winter. Today one of my co-workers asked me if I feel lonely these days. I jokingly told him that I have befriended alchohol for the time being to make it easier. He said he didn't mean loneliness of the heart but of the body - meaning physical needs. I said, "Oh that? There are always solutions..." but before I could finish, one other guy who was standing next to me said, "May be D: drive?"

Did you get it? He means d drive on the computer where he stores all the downloaded porn.
